Algeria’s gas exports have reached a record peak of 56 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2022, with the Director of the North African country’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, H.E. Miloud Medjelled, indicating that shipments are likely to surge further in 2023.
Expressing his interest in Algeria’s national oil and gas company, Sonatrach, to double its gas production to 100 bcm for export from 2023, the country’s President, H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, stated, “The country produces 102 bcm of gas annually, half of which is consumed by the local market. I hope that in 2023, Sonatrach will reach the export of 100 bcm.”
