Global major TotalEnergies, through its exploration and production arm in Uganda, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Uganda for the two parties to co-develop up 120 MW of solar PV capacity in the east African country.
The signing of the MoU paves way for TotalEnergies EP Uganda and the Ugandan government to collaborate on enhancing energy security and the implementation of the energy transition. In February, 2022, the two parties had agreed on a renewable energy penetration framework comprising the development of six 20 MW solar PV systems in Kapeeka, Iganga, Tororo, Kumi, Bukedea and Palisa.
